About Jon

Jon Arend has been in the fitness industry for 15 years and has been training in Los Angeles for the past 7 years. Jon’s clients include Collegiate and top Junior Tennis Players, A-List celebrities, LAPD, ex-Special Operations soldiers, business executives, moms, and retirees. Jon is the “trainer’s trainer” – providing real functional training strategies even for trainers to the stars.

Jon’s practice is customized to accommodate his client’s individual goals and body type and incorporates a blend of disciplines that are found in Russian strength training, martial arts, biomechanics, physical therapy and holistic modalities. These disciplines focus on postural and structural alignment with an emphasis on functional human movement patterns.

Jon is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as the National College of Exercise Professionals. He also holds current certificates from the C.H.E.K. institute for Breathing, Primal Pattern Movement, Scientific Core Conditioning, and Scientific Back Training. Jon is also currently certified by the Physical Therapist, Gray Cook for the Functional Movement Screen, Secrets of the Shoulder and Secrets of the Hip and Knee, and has attended the Gray Institute’s Chain Reaction Seminars and has completed the Gray Institute’s Functional Digest Series. He has also completed the Holistic Life Coach from the CHEK Institute, and is currently studying back rehabilitation courses taught by Dr. Stuart McGill, and Fascial Fitness taught by Tomas Meyers.

Jon worked at the exclusive Sports Club LA for two years before starting his own private
practice. For the past year, he has teamed up with Doctorate of Physical Therapy Allen
Letgolts , Chiropractor and Sports Rehabilitation Specialists, Dr. Jeffery Tucker, Chronic
Pain Specialist, Laura Sadler, ADI Physical Therapy, Body Reform Integrated Physical
Therapy and the Gray Institute.

In 2010, Jon partnered with Duke University tennis coaches to open Court Strength, an
integrated fitness and tennis facility in Santa Monica, California.

In 2011, Jon was asked to be a motion capture artist for Nike and Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect trainer fitness video game.

Jon also trains in Freedman’s Method of Ketsugo Jujutsu Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee’s
martial art style, and holds qualifications from Defensive Hand-gun, Carbine and
Tactical Sniper/ Counter Sniper schools, the American Alpine Institute, American Red
Cross, and the Skip Barber Racing School.
